PK Productions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for emerging artists
In 2024, then-college-junior Zach Kautter noticed the lack of hands-on theatrical opportunities available to young artists of all disciplines. That summer, he launched PK Productions with the goal of breaking this barrier, uplifting the work of nearly 30 creatives to produce Nick Payne’s Constellations at the Boston Center for the Arts. In the years since, PK Productions has grown, connecting over 100 artists across multiple theatre, film, and education projects.
PK Productions further bolstered its support of early-career artists through the addition of an Education branch, which brought the inaugural cohort of the PK Education Mentorship Program. This six-week program—completely free and open to college students, regardless of location—connects mentees with five mentors established in five different disciplines: Writing, Comedy, Musical Theatre, Classical Acting, and Acting for Film/TV. Graduates of the program have gone on to be cast in regional theatre productions, begun production for their scripts, and much more.
Additionally, the team offers free and low-cost workshops with industry professionals, demystifying the realities of creative careers while setting the stage for lasting professional connections. These workshops have been led by stars of acclaimed TV shows such as The Pitt and Superman and Lois and have covered a wide range of topics, including self-care for artists and real-time self tape coaching.
PK Productions has partnered with The RAT NYC to stage New Play Nights, a series of works by emerging playwrights, in early 2027. This series will be accompanied by accessible writing workshops and seeks to create opportunities for a large team of interdisciplinary creatives.
